Stephen Farrant

Director

 

Stephen studied Languages at Oxford University, before joining British Airways on their Marketing and Operations graduate programme. He spent five years at the airline, working in a number of front-line roles including Sales and Marketing, Revenue Management, Customer Services and Operations. He also worked as part of the Strategy and Alliances team that lay the ground-work for the “One World” alliance.

He then spent nine years at VisitBritain, progressing from Business Planning Manager to Head of Partnerships to General Manager, Quality. In this latter role he managed the national quality accreditation schemes for the accommodation sector.

In early 2006 Stephen took up a new role as Director of Membership and Marketing at the RSA (www.theRSA.org), where he was closely involved in the development of the RSA’s “Carbon Limited” project, which tested the potential for encouraging behavioural change through the introduction of an individual carbon cap and trade scheme.

Stephen then spent eighteen months in consultancy specialising in destination marketing, strategy and sustainable tourism, before joining the IBLF as Director of the International Tourism Partnership in March 2009.

Stephen is a member of the UK Sustainable Development Commission’s Advisory Panel, and is currently qualifying as a Business Coach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fiona Whittenbury

Programme Manager

Fiona joined IBLF as a Programme Manager in the International Tourism Partnership in October 2008.  With a Bachelor of International Relations and a Masters in International Trade and Diplomacy, she has over ten years experience in the non-profit and professional services sectors in Asia- Pacific and Europe. Starting her career in Australia, working for international NGO's including OXFAM Australia and Amnesty International focused on Communication and Marketing roles. She spent five years at the Law Society of England and Wales where she had responsibility in both a representative business development capacity and a policy advisory role focusing on UK law firms business interests in the Asia -Pacific. Fiona has extensive experience with working in both leadership and delivery roles, and negotiating with partners ranging from civil society, NGO's, government and the commercial sector.
 
With a keen interest in Environment and Social responsibility, Fiona leads on the strategy, implementation, and management of projects and publications for ITP, including the successful ‘Green Hotelier’ online magazine. Fiona also sits on the VisitEngland Sustainable Tourism Stakeholder Group.

 

 

Emma Sullivan

Coordinator

 

Emma joined IBLF in early 2009 and is currently working on our International Tourism Partnership and Youth Career Initiative programmes. Emma has previously worked in the public sector in Australia, and has also gained valuable marketing and editorial experience at The Economist in London. Emma is experienced in managing website re-development projects, as well as editing and producing other online and print communications and marketing materials.

Emma has a keen interest in environmental and social responsibility, as well as sustainable design.

Emma has a Master of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) from the University of Sydney, Australia.
